Young Science for an Ecological Future: "YOUNG ACADEMY - 26" Conference Summary
The modern world is facing unprecedented environmental challenges. Climate change, widespread environmental pollution, the depletion of natural resources, and the urgent need for safe waste disposal demand decisive action and innovative solutions. It was the search for novel scientific and technical approaches to preserving the planet that the International Scientific and Technical Conference of Students and Young Scientists "YOUNG ACADEMY - 26" was dedicated to.
This year, the event’s online platform transformed into a powerful hub for sharing experiences, fostering passionate discussions, and generating promising environmental projects. The conference brought together active young people from various educational and research institutes, demonstrating the high level of preparation of the future scientific elite.
By the decision of the jury, the following presentations were recognized as the best:
- Pavlo Tymchenko, a PhD student at the Department of Civil Safety of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology (scientific supervisor — Assoc. Prof. O. V. Pylypenko). Research topic: "Systematization of quantitative parameters of radiation protection in ICRP recommendations: from the concept of effective dose to the methodology of detriment."
- O. O. Nikolaiev (group EO01-23), who presented the work "Research methods in ecology" (scientific supervisor — Assoc. Prof. O. V. Savvin).
- S. M. Hunenko (group EO01-24) with an extremely relevant topic: "The impact of war on the state of the environment in Ukraine" (scientific supervisor — Senior Lecturer A. H. Mieshkova).
Key outcomes of the scientific event:
- Practical Value: Most of the presented works have a clear applied focus and are aimed at solving real-world environmental problems of today.
- Comprehensive Approach: Scientific inquiries covered a wide range of topics — from complex issues of radiological protection to bioecological studies of the behavior of living organisms.
- Synergy and Cooperation: The event once again confirmed that cooperation between students, PhD students, and experienced mentors is the key to overcoming global crises.
The organizers sincerely thank every speaker for their thorough research, the audience for their active participation in discussions, and the jury members for their professional and impartial evaluation of the works.
